Anti-Wrinkle Injections

We began to offer Botox® (botulinum toxin) based muscle relaxing treatments in 2007, so has many years of experience with its use and also in combination with other treatments to gain the preferred, safe, longer-lasting results.

So, what is Botox?

Botox is actually a trade name used by the company Allergan for ‘Onabotulinum toxin type A (Botox®)’, there are now other preparations available on the marked including Dysport, Azzalure etc..
Botox is injected (using a very fine needle) just below the skin surface to relax the muscles, which prevents the skin from creasing and causing wrinkles. It is effective in reducing ‘expression lines’, such as;

  • Frown and surprise lines on the forehead
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Turkey neck which is seen as lines on the throat.

Where can you get Muscle Relaxing/ Botox Treatment?

Botox is a prescription-only drug, so needs to be prescribed by an appropriate professional (Doctor or Dentist).

How long does the ‘Botox Effect’ last for?

It takes about 2 weeks for the effect to reach its optimal appearance, then the body (very slowly) breaks down the solution. The effects of Botox facial injections typically last 3 to 6 months. As the facial muscles smooth and reduce their strength a little, the regularity of repeat ‘top-up’ treatments reduces.

How much does Botox Treatment cost?

This depends on how much is injected, which is measured in units, which determine the biological activity. So it is possible to dilute the units more, in which case a greater volume would be required for the same biological effect.
The number of units needed will depend on the number of areas be treated and how active the muscles are.
